The Water of Life

It’s September and Labor Day is over, school has started, a new minister is here, and it’s a new church year—another beginning for you together as a community of faith. Let’s mark this beginning this way: this week, go collect a small container of water from your kitchen tap, your favorite nearby stream, the sky, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. Bring it along on Sunday morning and join together in celebrating Water Communion. We’ll mingle what we’ve brought, and in so doing, consider these waters as metaphor for our life together in this community and our hopes for the coming church year. Parents and children are especially invited to participate--this will be the last intergenerational service before our RE program starts on Sept 15.

This month's theme: Life

Speaker: The Reverend Sally Beth Shore

The Rev. Sally Beth Shore was ordained in 2013. She has served 5 Unitarian Universalist congregations and the UU College of Social Justice in leadership positions, most recently as minister in Spartanburg, SC (2015-2017). In addition to being a minister, Rev. Shore facilitates Appreciative Inquiry, working with organizations to create positive futures. She and her husband, Michael, live in Asheville and have 3 adult children. When she isn’t working, you just might find her riding her bike.

The first guiding Principle of Unitarian Universalism is the inherent worth and dignity of every person. UUTC welcomes all—persons of various ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, theological and political beliefs, socio-economic status, educational backgrounds, abilities and ethnicities. Services are at 9:15 and 11:00am. The building is wheelchair accessible, dress may be casual and visitors of all ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, and beliefs are warmly welcomed.

Infant care is available during both services.

Join us for coffee between services at 10:30am
