We read in the Hebrew scriptures, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7.”  In fact, all of the world’s major traditions (and most of the minor ones) proclaim that wisdom is an end goal of the religious life.  Sometimes, we find teachers in strange and unexpected places, and their impact can be life transforming.  We will explore how one "gets wisdom" … only to find that her ever-present companion is compassion.
