2024 UUTC “Dinner for Two Anywhere in the World” Raffle
Tickets $20 each, on sale Saturday, October 26, 2024 – Monday, January 6, 2025.
Drawing Date: January 8, 2025, 6:00 pm at UUTC.
Winners do not need to be present.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Unitarian Universalist of Transylvania County (UUTC), or its designated representative, will conduct the Raffle beginning Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the opening of Halloweenfest in Brevard, North Carolina and concludes at the end of the business day, Monday, January 6, 2025.

The person who purchased the selected raffle ticket (the “Winner”) will be notified by phone and/or email as provided on their ticket stub on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Winners do not need to be present.

Ticket price is $20.00 each.

The number of tickets is limited to 1,000. If fewer than 500 tickets are sold by the raffle date, we will not draw the raffle and any purchased tickets will be refunded.

Tickets will be sold in advance of the draw.

There is no limit on the number of tickets able to be purchased by any one individual.

UUTC members will be sellers of tickets. They will collect payment via cash or personal check.

Tickets may be purchased by cash, check, credit card, Venmo or ApplePay.

The Winner is entitled to one of three prize options:

Travel outside of the United States:

Two round-trip airline flights to and from any major international airport, dinner for two at a restaurant of their choice, and two nights’ hotel accommodations for two (the “Prize”). The destination and restaurant will be selected by the Winner.

Travel within the United States:

Two round-trip airline flights to and from any US airport (or other transportation of choice), two dinners for two at restaurants of their choice, and four nights’ accommodations for two (the “Prize”). The destination and restaurant will be selected by the Winner.  

Travel to UUA General Assembly:

An all-expense-paid trip to the UUA General Assembly for two June 19-22, 2025, Baltimore, Maryland.

Total package value is not to exceed $5,000. At least $3000 must be expended on travel and accommodations booked through our chosen travel agency.

Should the winner choose to upgrade to a higher class of travel service, stay longer, add any other passengers, or incur additional expenses (beyond the allowable $5,000 maximum), shall be their sole responsibility.

 

The Winner must decide upon a destination and restaurant(s) by June 1, 2025.

The Winner must use the Prize by December 31, 2025.

 

All travel arrangements must be made directly through Myron Pstrak, Expedia Cruises, mpstrak@expediacruises.com, (843) 693-9279  www.expediacruises.com/MyronPstrak by June 1, 2025. UUTC will reimburse expenses and not pay in advance. 

Once airline and/or hotel reservations have been made, the winner is responsible for further charges associated with any changes or for any cancellation penalties, according to the terms of the travel arrangements and/or airline/hotel/insurance purchased.

The Prize does not include bush flights or ground transportation, alcoholic beverages or any other entertainment or services beyond those explicitly stated in these conditions.

The Winner must be at least 21 years of age. The Winner may be required to provide proof of age acceptable to UUTC

Prior to accepting the Prize, Winner must provide UUTC with a W-9, and a clear and readable photocopy of identification (such as driver’s license or passport). Winner’s social security number may be verified by UUTC, and additional forms or information may be required for tax reporting purposes before the Prize is released.

The Winner will receive a W-2G form from UUTC, and the value of the Prize will be treated as ordinary income to the Winner for federal and state income tax purposes.

UUTC will pay required tax on the gross Prize amount. All other taxes resulting from this income reported to Federal and State taxing authorities, will be the responsibility of the Winner.

UUTC full-time staff or their spouses are not eligible to win. All UUTC part-time staff, volunteer board trustees are eligible to participate in this raffle.

The winner agrees to submit photo(s) and story of their trip for promotional purposes.

A written request must be received and approved by UUTC or its designated representative if the Winner wants to transfer Prize to another eligible adult.

UUTC is not liable for any loss, injury, death, accident, theft, illness, or other misfortune of any nature whatsoever incurred during this trip or resulting from it.

By accepting airline tickets or any other portion of the Prize, the Winner releases UUTC, its employees, trustees, agents, and attorneys from any and all obligations to the Winner and any and all claims or causes of action that may exist against UUTC, known or unknown, as well as any such obligations, claims, or causes of action arising from the Winner’s acceptance of the Prize.

UUTC makes no warranty whatsoever, express or implied, with respect to the Prize.

The IRS takes the position that no portion of the ticket price will qualify as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.

Net proceeds will be applied as follows:

Any unused balance of the $5000 Prize, up to $500, will be donated to a community organization following principles followed by UUTC.

All remaining proceeds will be applied to the ministries of the UUTC and servicing the public benefit of the community by working toward the fulfillment of its mission.

Each ticket must list the purchaser's telephone number and e-mail address, and the ticket and stub should be signed by the purchaser for record-keeping purposes.

The Prize cannot be a cash payout of any kind. It can be applied to hotels, airfare or other travel, or restaurants/catering.

Raffle tickets may not be deposited in the federal postal service; doing so is a violation of federal law and may lead to penalties.
