"Uncertainty"

Throughout history and up to this very day, certainty has played an appalling role in many of the worst instances of human action. In view of such a history, one would wonder why we seem to have not learned to be cautious and tentative before certainty, rather than craving it as we seemingly do. What if we were to cultivate, rather, a spirituality based on uncertainty, especially in face to face encounters with other human beings?
